Robert Olson has forty years experience leading engineering teams at startups and small to medium sized high tech companies. He has hired hundreds of engineers, managers and executives, and replaced the ones that didn't work out. He has represented his company with thousands of customers and countless meetings with investors and Board members. He has delivered products in Internet retail, autonomous robotic systems, collaboration tools, online security, national defense, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital media and more. 

Companies

Liquid Robotics is the largest producer of autonomous maritime robots. Robert initially served as VP Software and was promoted to SVP Engineering, responsible for all software, electronics and mechanical engineering.

VeraCarta created a cloud-based collaboration system for managing email and document revision control for use when the parties are adversarial, such as attorneys negotiating a multi-party contract. Robert served as SVP of Products.

PostX created a unique cloud-and-appliance based email security system for HIPPA compliance for business-to-consumer use. Robert served as VP Engineering. The company was sold to Cisco.

Moving Image Research was a UK-based company which created an appliance to simplify repurposing the magnetic tape based archives of television studios. Robert served as VP Engineering and President, reporting to the founder and Chairman.

ARTMACHINE provided a cloud-based service for managing the reuse of large libraries of digital marketing assets, such as those held by consumer products companies. Robert served as CTO and interim VP Engineering.

Virtual Vineyards was a pioneering Internet retailer, with first sales in January, 1995. It became Wine.com in 1999. Robert was co-founder and CEO.

Silicon Graphics created very high performance graphics computers and supercomputers, widely used in science and the creative arts. Robert served as Director of the Programming Products Business Unit.

ELXSI was one of the pioneers of mini-supercomputers in the 1980's. Robert served as VP Engineering.

Conference Objects created an appliance for managing and repurposing conference call recordings and transcripts. Robert performed due diligence on several prospective technologies.

HRPath created a cloud-based service for HR operations for small and medium sized companies. Robert served as interim VP Engineering.

ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) - Robert assisted in the technical evaluation of the first batch of proposed new global Top Level Domains (.pro, .museum, etc.)

University of Los Andes, Columbia - due diligence on a proposal to outsource the management of the .co domain.

ManageMark (formerly Expensable.com) - advisor and coach to VP Engineering.
